Your "Wings & Waterfalls "adventure begins at our private airfield in beautiful Clearwater, British Columbia. You will be greeted by our friendly staff, receive your boarding passes followed by an overview of the "Wings Over Wells Gray" scenic flight and introduction to Wells Gray Park. Then it's pre-flight photos, inflight safety briefing and then boarding our comfortable Cessna 182 Skylane for your amazing 44 minute flight over world famous Wells Gray Provincial Park.
Upon take off, you will see the town of Clearwater and unique location in the Thompson-Nicola region. In the centre of town is the picturesque Turtle Lake and beach (a great place to go for a dip after your flight). Climbing northward, Raft Mountain is on our right and the Clearwater River below, The Clearwater is Canada’s premiere whitewater river where you will see its unique features and the world famous “Kettle” section of the river. Continuing along the river, we pass by statuesque "Spahats Falls", the second tallest waterfall in the park.
Along our trek you will see the "Trophy Mountains" and "Table Mountain" dotted with meadows and pastures. Next is "Moul Falls", the third tallest waterfall in the park, and the only one you can walk behind. Continuing our journey, we cross over "Whitehorse Bluff" named for its unique shape. In the right lighting, it is is said to look like a horse’s head and mane. Switching from the Clearwater to the "Mahood River", we cruise by "Sylvia and Goodwin Falls" with beautiful "Mahood Lake" in the background.
As we head towards "Mosquito Mound", the ancient "Flower Mill" volcanoes are on the left and the queen of the park "Helmcken Falls" to the right, the tallest waterfall in the Park at 145 metres. Next is the "Horseshoe", a unique 4 kilometre stretch of Clearwater River that forms a perfect horseshoe shape. Also in the area is the "Bailey Shoot", the place salmon try to jump over but settle back to the Horseshoe to spawn.
We head eastbound across moose country (yes, guests have seen moose!) you will see "Clearwater Lake" to the North and "Battle Mountain" to the East. When we reach the Myrtle River, we pass between two volcanoes, Gage and McLeod Hill, and bank right around the rarely seen "Horseshoe Falls". Following the "Myrtle River" we cross over the island shaped "Majerus Falls" named after the family of homesteaders that settled in the park (before it was a park).
You fly over "Pyramid Mountain", a pyramid shaped volcano that only erupted 12,000 years ago, in geo time that's like yesterday. Then it's "Dawson Falls" know by its nickname "Little Niagara", followed by the "Mush Bowl" (you have to see it to understand how it got that name). Banking right we orbit over Helmcken Falls which is the 4th tallest waterfall in Canada, you will be captivated (even mesmerized) by the sheer power and volume of water cascading over its ridge into the "Helmcken Canyon".
Heading back to Clearwater you cruise by "Green Mountain" and get a closer look at the unique volcanic features of White Horse Bluff. Take a closer look at Moul Falls, Saber Tooth Canyon, and Spahats Falls as we follow the Clearwater River for an exciting landing at Clearwater Airport. Upon landing we will have quick a closing briefing, checkout some photos and help you with any details to make your stay in Clearwater more lasting. You are welcome to checkout our Gift Shop, have a beverage on our large patio or just sit back and take in the sights and sounds at the airfield.

Amazing Bird's Eye Views *****
"My girlfriend and I chose Wells Gray Air to get a taste of Wells Gray Provincial Park as part of our West Coast Trip through Alberta and BC. As we were pretty tight on time, this was a great way to see most of this vast park. The views of the mountains, rivers, and water falls from above were phenomenal. Rock was a very competent pilot and took off and landed much more smoothly than some commercial flights that I've been on." Skonkwurks from Canada |
An Awesome Flight!! *****
"We were so glad that we did not do one of those standard flights recommended by our travel agent! The flight with Rock was so personal, no mass tourism on the unique airfield! Hè talked us through all the sights we saw, made us feel safe, and made us feel very at ease from the beginning up until we left. Thank you again Rock for a wonderful experience!!
